As 2020 comes to an end, we cannot help but reflect on this year with sincere gratitude.
Thanks to our supporters, volunteers, board members and community members, this year, we have served over 184 families in Cabarrus County and the Greater Charlotte Area. And we’re just getting started.
Rise 2 Thrive Family Resource Center is a nonprofit organization that was created in response to the generational cycles of poverty and family trauma that exists in under resourced communities.
Our mission is to influence better outcomes for children and families by creating pathways to success and eliminating barriers to economic mobility through education, advocacy and empowerment.

July 2020 - Free Implicit Bias Presentation
As an organization of advocates and change agents, we created a safe space for nonprofit leaders, teachers, and community leaders to engage in safe dialogue regarding race, but to also take a closer look at the ways unconscious thoughts about those around us, specifically those we serve, can negatively impact their outcomes.
August 2020 - School Supply and Snack Drive
The generous support of our community partners allowed us to provide over 1,000 snacks to families and provide 140 students with school supplies to start the school year.
October 2020 – November 2020 - RISE: Building to Better
We are most proud of the successful completion, an 80% completion rate, of the first cycle of our signature program, RISE, a self-sustainability workshop. Our workshop focuses on mental and physical health, financial literacy, family building and career coaching. Many of our single mothers found the mental health discussion particularly therapeutic. Based on the expressed need, a “Sister Circle” was also formed, in which women are provided a safe space to discuss life challenges with a mental health professional. Allowing them to build community and learn self-care techniques, while processing their issues.
November 2020 - Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets
Thanks to the thoughtfulness of our partners, we were able to provide 25 families with a complete Thanksgiving Dinner: turkey, 3 sides and dessert. Our awesome board members volunteered to deliver the dinner baskets right to our families doorstep.
2020 was our launch year and it did not look anything like we expected; which is true for the entire world. However, it taught us how to pivot to advance our mission, even during challenging circumstances. We are looking forward to increasing our reach in our community.
